Today was day 1 of 17 before my surgery. I met all my daily goals:
- Log my food in the Noom app
- Eat a “green” food at each meal
- Walk at least 5000 steps
- Peddle on my Cubii for at least 30 minutes
- Read the Noom lesson of the day
- Write a blog post
I celebrated my 60th birthday this past week, and Jimmy gave me an outdoor chaise lounge for the deck. It came unassembled, and I put it together tonight. I think this will come in handy during my recovery.
I’m planning to stock the freezer with meals for my recovery. Jimmy does not cook, but he can re-heat food! For the next 2 weeks, I will “double” most of the dinners and freeze the extra servings. When I had my hip replacement last fall, I did the same thing. Most meals were good, a few were mediocre, and a few were excellent. At that time, I was not following Noom, so I cooked comfort food rather than healthy meals. This time, I want to keep up with Nooming. I might not be able to stay within my calorie budget, but I can plan to eat more fruits and vegetables this time around. For instance, I plan on cooking a casserole tomorrow for dinner. I will reduce my portion size, and have a salad on the side.
All-in-all, I feel good about getting my knee replaced. I’m sure I will have some (maybe a lot?) of pain to contend with, but I’m determined to push through. My sister had her knee replaced last year, and her recovery was more difficult than she’d prepared for. Her experience had me reluctant to go through with the surgery. Everyone (including sisters) is different, and I’ll own my own recovery. It’s hard sometimes to not compare myself to others.
Onward and upward!
